Affordable Travel to Rhodes: our Costs at a Glance

The costs for a vacation in Rhodes can vary greatly depending on the travel period, accommodation, meals, activities, and personal preferences. It is difficult to give a flat rate, as every vacation can be customized.
We traveled to Rhodes as a family of three in April 2023. We would be happy to give you an insight into the costs of our trip.

Basically, you can consider the following cost items when planning a vacation to Rhodes:

1. Flight:

The costs for flights to Rhodes depend on your departure location, the airline, the booking time, and the travel time. It is recommended to compare prices using the Skyscanner flight search engine to find the best deals.
We booked the flights from Düsseldorf to Rhodes quite spontaneously 3 weeks before departure.

2. Accommodation:

Accommodation prices in Rhodes vary depending on the location, type of accommodation (hotel, apartment, resort, etc.), and inclusive services such as meals. There are options for every budget, from budget travel to luxury trips.
We decided to split the two-week vacation and test 2 accommodations. We spent one week in an apartment and one week on an all-inclusive resort* vacation.

3. Catering:

The costs for meals can vary greatly depending on whether you eat in restaurants or cook yourself. There are a variety of restaurants in Rhodes that cover different price categories. The budget for meals therefore depends on your preferences.
In the first week, we prepared breakfast ourselves in the apartment. For lunch and dinner, we visited various taverns or prepared a snack ourselves.

4. Transport:

The costs for local transport can also vary. In Rhodes, there are public transport options such as buses, taxis, and rental cars. The prices are still quite reasonable compared to other countries.
In order to be able to explore the island flexibly, we booked a rental car*. We were able to pick up the booked small car at the airport using a short transfer.

5. Activities

The costs for activities in Rhodes depend on your interests. There are numerous free attractions, historical sites, beaches, water sports and other leisure activities.
